Adinkra Brass Earrings

Adinkra symbols originate from the Gyaman people of Ghana and the Ivory Coast; they are visual symbols with historical and philosophical significance originally printed on cloth which royals wore to important ceremonies; they are saturated with meaning; these symbols have come to symbolize the richness of Akan culture and serve as a shorthand for communicating deep truths in visual form.

These earrings have the most popular Adinkra symbol: Gye Nyame, which means God first, or except God - representing the omnipotence of God.
